Patrick Aquilone Author Interview
This interview is from “Beyond the Cover” blog book review site. You can check out the interview and blog here.
Note: Interview was with respect to “Altars of Living Stones” book and posted on 5/2/2024.
My name is Patrick Aquilone. I have been a Christian now for almost 32 years and have seen the power of God move mightily. I am married to my college sweetheart for the last thirty-three years and have three amazing adult children. I love to help people and to play board games.
Could you please introduce yourself to us?
God spoke to me in prayer a few years back about writing down the testimonies that my wife and I have walked through for our children. He showed me that even though they were present for many of the testimonies their child's perspective did not see the complete picture. Writing down the complete testimony of what God did for us would allow for their faith to grow to even greater proportions. After beginning to write the book, God spoke to me again and told me to make the book available for anyone to read so their faith can also grow.
Congratulations on your book. So what inspired you to write this book?
God tells us in Jude 1:20 to build ourselves up on our most holy faith. However, how do we do this? The answer is that we remember the great things that God has done in the past to strengthen our faith to walk through whatever you are destined to face. Altars of Living Stones seeks to help provide a series of testimonies of the power of God that one can make part of their own spirit and use to grow their faith.
What is the book all about?
God spoke to me about writing the book and the choice of genre was kind of defaulted at that point
Why did you choose this genre for your book?
How much time did it take to complete this book?
This one is a bit hard to answer because some of the testimonies were decades ago. However, from the moment God spoke to me to the moment it was done was about 3 years.
The book contains twenty testimonies to the power of God that no one else on the planet has simply because they are ones my family and I walked through. This makes the book truly one of a kind.
What makes your Book Special?
Currently running my last editing pass on "Altars of Living Stones Volume 2" before sending to the editor. I would say about six to nine months. It highly depends on how many changes are needed by the editor. Once he makes changes then I have to review and often make other changes that he then has to review. For the first book it took about 4 months.
When is your second book coming?
While writing did you get any writer's block? What is the Tip that you will give others who are facing writer's block?
I did get writers block a few times. This was because I had in my head a certain size I believed the book needed to be. This was totally not needed but I thought it was. This created many moments of not knowing what to write next. I tried talking with others but that overall did not help. What helped the most was to pray and listen to what God was telling me. Every time I had a block, he gave me direction and I got to continue writing.
What are your other hobbies besides being a talented author?
I love to create things. I have worked on creating a series of Christian Scripture products that I have for sale. In addition, I love to help people solve problems especially when it comes to marriage. Having been married for over thirty years and still going we have seen a lot and have a lot of wisdom we can impart and help other couples grow.
Last but not the least, How did you feel, while giving this interview?
Uncomfortable. This book was written by myself but I really feel it was written by God. He is the one who made the testimonies possible. He is the one who told me to write things down. He is the one who helped when I was blocked. And he has been the one opening doors. I feel it is way more his book than mine. So I find it uncomfortable when I talk about it like it was something I did. The few copies I have autographed I felt the same way. I understand just feels odd.
