A rescue. A mystery. A name: Crusader.
White and gold armor. A wrecked car. A rescue—and more questions than answers.

He has been seen helping people in danger. Getting him to stay for an interview appears to be another matter.
The armored figure known as Crusader is drawing fresh attention after a serious vehicle collision. Accounts from the people he helped describe a rescuer who moved quickly, spoke calmly, and left before anyone could get many answers.
In brief accounts relayed from the hospital, two of the occupants recalled the white and gold figure reaching their damaged car and pulling them free.
“I remember thinking there was no way we were getting out,” one survivor said. “Then he was there.”
Another remembered something unexpected amid the noise and confusion.
“He kept talking. Some of it was to us—telling us what he was doing, trying to keep us calm. But then he’d stop and answer somebody I couldn’t hear. I thought he was talking to himself.”
The account offers no clear explanation. Witnesses could not say whether Crusader was using a communication device, speaking to someone nearby, or simply concentrating on the rescue.
Anthony, a student at Emerald Dragon University, was among those seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital separately; an account from a paramedic at the scene suggests the speed of that transfer may have been crucial.
The rescue has not answered the larger questions surrounding Crusader. Who is he? Where does he come from? And how does he seem to disappear just when someone is ready to ask?
For one person pulled from the wreckage, those questions can wait.
“I don’t know who was under that helmet,” the survivor said. “I know he came back for us.”
